Greetings from the Kaiser Computer Lab
School is going full-speed and the computer lab got a last minute make over. The old tables are gone, replaced by new counter tops, three new computers were added along with a middle island so now there’s a computer for every student. We upgraded the memory on all the computers (or are still in the process of upgrading all the memory 🙂 and the last piece is installing the project screen for the new lab projector. If you get a chance, come by and drop in and see how it looks.
After School Computer Classes Underway
This fall I’m teaching two sessions of an after school class on using the internet. We’re working with finding and making sense of information on the web, how to use the web to solve problems and get answers to questions, some basics of how to do research on the web, looking at educational resources on the web and doing some web design creating a webpage for the class as well as working on a new website we’ll be using in the computer lab. I’ll offer the same class either Wed from 1:30 – 2:30 or Thu from 3:00 – 4:00. There’s still room in either session, so if you’re interested, come on out.
Interested in Volunteering?
If you’re interested in helping out in the computer lab, there are a number of possibilities. The easiest way is to come during a class and help students with their projects. The class schedule is listed below. Another way to help is with the printing and assembling of student projects. Students get to make posters, little books and other types of projects and the production aspects are hard to work in with teaching. It would be great to have some folks interested in helping get student work from the desktop to the printer. Lastly, we’re always looking for tech experts, especially Mac experts, so please let me know if that’s your area of professional expertise and you’d be interested in consulting/helping out.
