VOLUNTEER

The special talents of our Kaiser Parents are a great strength for our school. You may be unable to commit to time in the classroom, but is there something else you could offer to our school? Can you be a room parent, donate food for a bake sale, bring a dish to a potluck event, or drive on a field trip? Can you assist at a fundraising activity?

Your talents will be coordinated to enhance programs for children. Needs vary from year to year. The following are the major ongoing programs that require volunteer support.

  • PINK PANTHER EDITOR for the Kaiser Newsletter. It is distributed every Tuesday to the youngest child in your family. The Pink Panther keeps parents abreast of important future Dates To Remember, gives information about school related activities and programs, and often includes messages from the Principal and PTA.

  • HELP WITH FUNDRAISING is an ongoing need and a great opportunity to volunteer your time and talents. Kaiser PTA sponsors a number of annual and special events that generate funding for many important programs. The two major fundraising events at Kaiser are the fall Auction and spring Walk-A-Thon. Many volunteers are needed for both events. Volunteers for the Auction are needed to solicit donations, set up and decorate, prepare and serve food, and register and check out guests. Volunteers for the Walk-A-Thon are needed prior to the event to prepare for registration, food service, prize distribution and volunteer coordination as well as working the day of the event. The annual Book Fair is coordinated in conjunction with the Walk-A-Thon. Volunteers for that event are needed to set up, check out customers and repack books. Please contact the PTA Board if you would like to help.

  • ROOM PARENTS help promote parent-teacher classroom activities. They establish a class phone tree, and help coordinate class field trips and bake sales.

  • PARENT AIDES are requested by teachers to help with math, reading, paper correcting, or special events in the classroom. Parents should talk with their child's teacher about scheduling a time to help in the classroom.

  • LIBRARY Volunteers are essential to maintaining and operating the school library.
The PTA employs part-time Librarians, but volunteers are needed to stock shelves and help students check in and out books. The librarian will set a time for parent volunteers and schedule two Saturday work days each year. Check the Pink Panther for work Saturdays.

  • PLAYGROUND AIDES help the Yard Supervisors during the lunch recess, from 12:25 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Contact Principal Mel Stenger.

  • TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK Chairperson coordinates food and decorations for the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week Lunch. The Chairperson arranges for parent donations, from each class, for each day of the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.
