Principal’s Message – March 19th, 2019

Hello Kaiser Community,

It is mighty cliché to begin a column with the Charles Dicken’s quote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,” yet it seems such an accurate description of how the start of 2019 has been. The possibility of Kaiser merging, moving, or closing is a hard shadow to live under. But even with this, our school community grows stronger and stronger. This is obvious in some big ways, such as the tremendous success of our auction. (Thanks to ALL who contributed and participated!) This is also obvious in everyday moments, such as when I was talking with 2nd grader Marissa in the library, and she suggested that my daughter would love the book A Home for Hermit Crab. She brought me to the shelf, pulled it out, and encouraged me to take it home. Precious moments like that are what Kaiser Elementary is all about!

Other recent shining moments for me include partnering with Linda Handy to revise the Kaiser Alive booklet for distribution later this week; supporting Ms. Eckley as she presented a puberty education unit to our 5th graders; watching Ms. Jackson and Ms. Rebekah take on a “sensory hallway project”; and reviewing each and every report card, noticing the level of individual detail that teachers invest in them all.

Be sure to look at the important up-coming dates on the next page in this issue of the Pink Panther. We have a full and exciting last third of this year ahead!

Wishing you and your family a fun and healthy spring break!
